Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Planner within one of our Clients UK Highways Division. The candidate will be based in our Clients Buckinghamshire office, working in the South of England. Ideally degree qualified with a minimum of 5 years' planning experience, the successful candidate should demonstrate an in depth knowledge of regional civil engineering and infrastructure projects, and be proficient in the use of either Primavera P6, MS Project or Powerproject or a combination of these, including resource and cost loading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure planning assumptions and methodologies incorporate Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Production of robust phasing plans and costed, resource loaded programmes to determine construction sequences from "first principles" for tender and/or "live" construction projects
  • Use the programme to produce / assist in the production of project prelim books including, but not limited to, staff resource, logistics and temporary works requirements.
  • Engage with the supply chain to develop the programme with regards to design, lead-in's, construction periods, and plant & labour requirements.
  • Review risk and opportunities for every programme produced and highlight potential mitigation measures in the programme, including float and time risk allowances.
  • Undertake proactive peer reviews of other planners programmes to ensure consistency and continuity within the planning department.
  • Coordinate with other departments / suppliers to provide input into the programme.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in construction related role
  • Extensive experience in regional civil engineering and infrastructure projects
  • Good knowledge of NEC types of Contract
  • Understanding of D&B contracts and experience with the design process
  • Commercial awareness
  • Experience of site/contract procedures
  • Ability to organise, plan, programme and manage workloads
  • Good working knowledge of Statutory Processes.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card ownership

Aspirational

  • 4D Planning Experience
  • Experience within the rail, or water industries
