Job description

I am currently recruiting a Healthcare Advisory Consultant for my client in London. PLEASE NOTE TRAVEL AND OVERNIGHT STAYS WILL BE REQUIRED.

As a Consultant, you will be required to work as part of the Healthcare Advisory Team, assisting in the timely delivery of high quality consulting services to clients. You will gain understanding and experience in the field of healthcare advisory by working with a variety of clients in acute, primary, community care and commissioning settings. In particular, you will build on and further develop your knowledge and skills in working with NHS finance and activity data.


Role purpose

  • Provide focused consultancy services to healthcare clients. Examples of consultancy projects include reviews of the quality of healthcare delivery, identifying efficiency improvements, developing new models of care, designing commissioning strategies, workforce reviews, assessing governance arrangements, advising on service reconfiguration, and development of business cases.
  • Support the shaping of the overall structure of projects
  • Manage the delivery of small projects on a day-to-day basis
  • Deliver projects, working on either a number of small projects concurrently or on a single larger project at any one time
  • Support projects that have a data and/or financial aspect of delivery
  • Assist in securing new engagements
  • Support the development of new products and services

Responsibilities

  • Analyse information, identifying and discussing options with colleagues and clients.
  • Support the facilitation of workshops and meetings with colleagues
  • Analyse NHS data on areas such as finances, activity, workforce etc and use this to develop credible interpretations of the data and associated recommendations
  • Support the preparation of reports for clients and present findings to clients persuasively
  • Ensure client feedback is captured, addressed and effectively communicated to the oject manager/director
  • Identify and recognise new project and business opportunities, and inform the project director or partner as appropriate
  • Promote knowledge sharing within the team and facilitate research and development
  • Deliver honest and timely feedback and seek and take action on feedback
  • Assist the wider team in the development of existing and new service offers
  • Contribute to the successful development of client relationships, including meeting with clients to identify and discuss their needs as well as taking responsibility for delivering answers to the clients
  • Complete first drafts of small proposals and structure the work of more junior team members for all business development activities
  • Support the conversion of opportunities into chargeable work, including the production of bid documents and participation in bid presentations and interviews
  • Act as an ambassador of the firm; participate in marketing events and keeping abreast of the wide range of services the firm offer
  • Write articles and contribute to marketing initiatives
  • Complete accurately all relevant administration on time e.g. timecard, expenses

Technical Competencies
  • Experience & knowledge of working within or working with the UK health and care system;
  • Experience of working with the NHS and/or a consultancy business.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: public sector finances, data analytics, health economics, developing spreadsheet-based activity, cost or workforce models
  • Have a passion for improving the NHS with experience of designing and implementing change in the sector
  • Working knowledge of the NHS and the healthcare system within the UK
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills in written and verbal forms
  • Confident self-starter with ambition to achieve rapid career progression
  • Educated to degree level
  • Excellent knowledge of spreadsheet based analytics (Microsoft Excel)
  • Good knowledge of other MS Office applications such as in particular Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
