Job description

Health & Safety Advisor

We have an urgent requirement for a H&S Advisor to join our client on a permanent basis.

The project is a large civil engineering mega project.

Key responsibilities

1. Ensure that key H&S data including incident, monitoring, engagement and audit findings are recorded in the appropriate management database and are used to inform learning and drive forward improvement.
2. Take the lead on the development and population of the H&S database, including the development of reports and statistics.
3. Keep track of HSMS and ensure timely review of procedures and guidance
4. Monitor and respond to the central H&S email queries raised and/or direct to other team members as required.
5. Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
6. Support in developing and issuing H&S communications such as campaign information, posters, briefings and noticeboard materials.
7. Liaise with other departments such as procurement and training in ordering/delivery of H&S products and training services
8. Support and carry out inspection and monitoring activities.
9. Develop and deliver inductions, briefings and training as required
10. Assist in and carry out investigations of accidents and incidents and support the implementation and timely close out of corrective actions.
11. Visibly active both within the office and site environments
12. Assist with the capturing of lessons learned and the dissemination of the information through the creation of toolbox talks, briefings
13. Assist with the administration of the Drug and Alcohol testing programme.

Experience, knowledge, qualifications & training
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
* Construction experience with Major Projects - civils and or marine
* Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and ability to communicate effectively at all levels throughout the project.
* Tech IOSH membership working towards Grad/CMIOSH status
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence both project team and key stakeholders.
* Computer literateracy with intermediate to advanced experience of Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook,
* Statistical and numerical skills
* Good time management and ability to prioritise work effectively
* Proactive and able to work on own initiative when necessary
