Short-term contract – ends 24/11/22
Around £250 per hour   

New opportunity for a Construction Manager to join a large, well respected construction company on a temporary contract position.

You will be responsible for providing functional Health & Safety advice, guidance and coaching to Project Teams. The position supports the Project H&S Manager / Director in establishing and maintaining the highest Health and Safety standards for the project. The role will involve supporting multiple different projects on a when require basis to assist the resident H&S Managers. This will be roving role that may occasionally require some overnight stays

Key responsibilities:

  • Advise, guide and coach all personnel on the project with the implementation of the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
  • Responsible to the Project Manager / Director, advising on project compliance with the HSMS and statutory provisions
  • Responsible to the Project Manager / Director for maintaining the Health & Safety competence matrix
  • Support the Project Manager / Director in the production, review and implementation of the Construction Phase Plan / Project Execution Plan
  • Communicate effectively (Accurate, Relevant and Timely) with their line manager, particularly with the escalation of accidents and incidents
  • Support the Project Manager / Director in the accident / incident investigations procedure and timely communication of the findings
  • Assist the project / Operating Unit (OU) with the accurate, relevant and timely reporting and recording of incidents
  • Monitoring of the project, trade contractors, designers, suppliers and assisting the Procurement Team
  • Liaison with trade contractors, designers, suppliers, client, enforcement agencies and other relevant parties
  • Assist with the development, regular review and update of the HSMS
  • Support the business to win work.  When directed complete Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ) and tender enquiries.
  • Contribute to the development of an Injury-Free Environment across Skanska
  • Support the business in building winning teams through promoting campaigns, attending and contributing to meetings etc

What we need from you:

  • Previous experience in relevant field of Construction (multi-storey large commercial and mixed-use projects, schools etc)
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Technician grade membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH) or above
  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety – desirable
  • NVQ level 4 or above in Occupational Health & Safety – desirable

End date – 24th November 2022
