Health and Safety Advisor - construction, civil engineering, rail - Yorkshire/East Midlands (multi-site, regional role) - £40k-£50k+package (car, pension, healthcare and bonus) 

Exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor for a top main contractor, working as a 'hands-on' safety professional providing support on major construction, civil engineering and rail projects.

Responsibilities:
Support the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager in their role.
Understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures and statutory requirements as they affect  operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented.
Assist in providing operational and functional management with advice on the prevention of accidents, ill health, environmental incidents and the practical implementation of the company’s SHE policies.
Assist in providing operational and functional management with advice for obtaining legal consents, licences and exemptions such as discharge consents, abstraction licences and waste management licences.
Assist the Framework H&S Manager and E Manager in preparing and developing the Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plan / Construction Phase Plan (CPP) / Environment Management Plan (EMP) & coordinator reviews.
Undertake site SHE inspections as directed.
Assist where necessary with tenders
When directed, assist with review of SHE risk assessments and Method Statements, Work Package Plans (WPP’s) and Task Briefing Sheets (TBS)
Assist with the monitoring and reporting of Framework SHE Performance as directed.
Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents as directed.
Assist in the preparation and implementation of SHE training courses, as directed.
Actively promote the company campaigns in addition to the implementation of best practice principles across the business, to include stakeholders such as the supply chain.
Set standards and lead by example in the management of SHE
Maintain own level of knowledge and competency in relation to SHE management and responsibilities including appropriate qualification and professional membership

Qualifications/experience:
NEBOSH General/Construction certification (essential)
Construction safety experience, ideally within major construction, rail or civil engineering (essential)
Affiliate Membership of IOSH (essential)
Tech IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent (desirable)
