Job description

Health and Fire Safety Advisor - 3 x roles - North / Midlands / Southern regions (home/local office based with 300+ bases across the UK) - up to £45k+pension, mileage - property / estates management


Main Purpose:-

The role will encompass high levels of collaborative working with Companies and Tenants to verify and review existing safety arrangement including as a priority fire safety documentation and associated procedures.
To lead safety within the region to protect the business interests, assets and well-being of employees, tenants, visitors and the public from harm and risk to their health, safety and welfare.
To effectively manage and deliver a regional programme of Fire Risk Assessments and Health and Safety Statutory Compliance Audits. To include developing associated recommendation reports and management plans for the regional estate portfolio for buildings of varying complexity levels.
It will also require close support and administration of the action plans to ensure that all areas have been completed within the timeline identified and to offer support to Centre Management Team members and tenants to apply any remedial measures as necessary.
To support Property and Centre Management Team members on incident response and matters arising from safety issues.
The role will require flexibility to travel to Regional sites and provide support to other regions as required.

* TDevelop and maintain excellent working relationships with:
* Property Team, Centre Management Team, Business Information (BI) team, Tenants and other health/local authority providers, Primary Authority Scheme (Fire Service) Partner.

Key Accountabilities
* H&FS Advisors will deliver an effective rolling programme to ensure Fire Risk Assessments are produced for all sites
* H&FS Advisors will develop management plans to ensure completion of any FRA remedial actions, including appropriate contingency plans.
* H&FS advisors will support Centre Management Team members where necessary to drive forward collaboration and partnership working to ensure any FRA recommendations and/or remedial actions are completed in an agreed timescale and to an appropriate standard / specification.
* H&FS advisors will collaborate with the Centre management function to deliver an effective fire evacuation exercise programme for all sites within the portfolio.
* H&FS Advisors will be the first point of call for all telephone and email enquiries from Centre Management Team members providing advice and guidance on relevant H&S matters.
* H&FS Advisors will support regional Centre Management Team members to undertake H&S Statutory Compliance Audits on sites.
* H&FS Advisors will deliver safety training to employees across the company as necessary in line with the individual and corporate needs.
* Going forwards it is intended that H&FS advisors will deliver Fire Safety training to appropriate stakeholders including the delivery of Fire Warden training and general Fire Safety Awareness.
* Be the 'competent person', conveying outcomes and providing action plans to support works required. The nature and the frequency of audits/inspections are to be agreed with the Property Team in line with the corporate audit programme.
* Assist the Health and Safety Manager with the review of all aspects of the company's health and safety governance and management arrangements (including policy organisation, planning, monitoring and audit).
* To provide flexibility and support within the centre management team and to work together to provide a co-ordinated positive safety message to all sites.
* Assist sites with accidents and incidents management and investigation processes, as defined in the Accident/Incident arrangements where required.
* Attend meetings with the Health and Safety Manager and Regional Property Team's as required, to ensure consistency of approach.
* Assist in the induction programme for new employees to advise and support on H&S policies, procedures, undertaking risk assessments, fire risk assessments and accident/incident investigations - including the use of relative software and systems.
* Provide reports as required by the H&S Manager in relation to H&S specific issues.
* H&FS Advisors will maintain their knowledge and keep up to date with current and proposed legislation relating to H&S issues.
* To liaise and support H&S colleagues across the other Regions to ensure consistent practice across the company and the sharing of information and expertise.

Qualifications/Knowledge & Application
Essential
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
* Hold a relevant qualification or ability to display competence in Fire Safety Management and the undertaking and reviewing of fire risk assessments (a minimum of NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent).
* Previous experience of working in a multi-site role.
* Experience of developing and delivering H+S training to colleagues and 3rdparty stakeholders.
* Experience of report writing and developing, reviewing and implementing health and safety related policies and procedures.
* Broad experience and knowledge of operational health and safety management issues, enforcement procedures and policies.

Desirable
* Demonstrate an understanding of the NHS and local government.
* Experience of working within a healthcare environment or similar.
* NEBOSH General Diploma Level 6 qualified (or equivalent).
* Obtained or be working towards Chartered membership of IOSH.
* Experience of training staff.
