Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join a national main contractor as Head of Human Resources, based from their lively office in Watford.

Supporting the company by delivering an effective HR service to meet objectives and improve business performance, with a consideration for business requirements and a commercial focus, this role will encompass formatting the HR business plan, overseeing team activities and providing advice, support and management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Review and contribute to the business plan, strategies, policies and procedures
  • Work with the senior team to identify risks, and develop strategies to address these
  • Lead relevant HR projects and develop change initiatives
  • Manage the HR team including monthly reviews, team meetings and issuing objectives
  • Provide advice and support regarding complex HR issues such as settlement agreements, redundancies, absences, appeals, etc.
  • Assist with bid opportunities from a HR perspective and undertake risk assessments, as required
  • Review and analyse management information and develop improvement plans to address any concerns
  • Support recruitment and selection processes for the business
  • Encourage a positive working environment, innovation and improvement within the HR team
  • Design in-house training and workshops, and deliver these to teams throughout the business
  • Keep up to date with current legislation and best practice and attend external forums to ensure current awareness

To be considered, you must hold a relevant HR qualification and a minimum of 3 years' management experience in the field, alongside a proactive attitude and the ability to work autonomously, with great organisation and leadership capabilities.
