Job description

We are currently recruiting a Head of Technical Services role for a leading Facilities Service provider, to oversee the Hard FM teams on a large site in the Bridgwater area.

The role:

Leading the Maintenance and Support Services Teams, ensuring that they have necessary competencies and training in addition to support to deliver required service levels. To be able to liaise effectively with the Client, anticipating and effectively resolving any potential issues. Provide effective reporting and communication to the Account Manager in line with contract requirements. Primarily encompassing the site with added responsibility for effective service delivery for Associated Development sites defined within scope of contract. To be competent within the CAFM system ensuring the process is fully auditable, implementing and monitoring effective systems to mitigate contractual and legislative risk. To work collaboratively with the Head of Soft Services in order to ensure a consistent delivery

Main responsibilities:

  • Maintain an efficient support service to the contract, ensuring that adequate resources are available to enable all maintenance tasks to be completed on time and to prescribed standards.
  • Compiles contractual and company compliance documentation
  • Monitors delivery with the Compliance & Quality Manager, and develops action plans to effectively and speedily resolve non­conformance
  • Ensures appropriate processes ensure all legislative and procedures are followed in maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Ensure all plant and equipment is properly maintained and serviced and available for use during working hours
  • Ensure staff are able to safely deal with breakdowns and damage to assets etc. within their range of qualifications, training, and experience as required and by out of hours response where necessary
  • Oversee Maintenance inspections and repairs to various types of heating, water, ventilation, electrical, mechanical and security equipment and services on site
  • Ensure that all assets are correctly recorded on the Concept CAFM System and are subject to continual review.
  • Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance tasks are recorded, allocated, completed on time and documented to provide a comprehensive maintenance regime that is fully auditable.
  • To ensure production and issue of monthly client management information report including review of contract KPIs.
  • Receive and prioritise task requests, allocate responsibility and track actions to completion to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • To lead and develop a multi skilled team to meet both the client and operational demands.
  • To ensure that robust procedures and processes are in place and adhered to in order to maintain staffing levels appropriate to contractual requirements.
  • To be responsible for and take full ownership of the departmental budget and ensure financial targets are achieved in line with this.
  • To collate monthly and annual reports for ultimate submission to the client outlining; activities, achievements and general operational performance for the reporting period.
  • To operate within and maintain the standards of services and security required under the contract
  • Comply with the requirements of the H&S at Work Act and emergency procedures as required.
  • To assist with the mobilisation of new services.


  • Professional Qualification in Hard FM Services or similar associated field
  • Five years FM experience.
  • Expert knowledge within a TFM environment.
  • Three years budget setting and financial management of budgets with a turnover of £1.5M
  • Strong people and project management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel and Word
  • Effective report writing.
  • Ideally knowledge of Concept Evolution CAFM and SAP & ARIBA
