Job description

Our client has a vacancy in the Bristol office for a Degree-Qualified Civil Engineer with 4-6 years post-grad experience. A summary of the role is as follows:

Responsible for interpreting site investigation reports in order to estimate and providing written quotations to prospective clients for a whole range of foundation solutions including CFA, SFA, rotary, driven, odex, and sheet piling ground improvement - vibro stone columns, dynamic compaction and RC groundworks.
An understanding of all these techniques is not expected from the start, but candidates will have the opportunity to get involved in the whole spectrum of the companies activities and develop their experience and understanding of foundation works.

There will be a significant element of design at tender stage in order to have complete confidence in the companies offer. In the event that the company win the job a full design will be carried out by the candidate for submission to the client and/or the Structural Engineer.
The company will always provide a compliant bid based on the tender documents but will also use their Engineering expertise, and the range of solutions which they can carry out in-house, to offer an alternative scheme if this has a commercial benefit to the company and client.
Client liaison throughout the above process and attending pre-tender and pre-start meetings with the contracts staff.
Provide "start-up" information so that the contracts staff are fully informed of company and the clients expectations.
Whilst the contract works will be carried out by the companies own operatives under the supervision of their own site managers, the commercial and engineering supervision of the contract, and the client liaison associated with this, will remain with the candidate.
Ensuring pile logs, test data, and all other site information is presented to the client along with all interim and final accounts.
By the above methods the candidate remains involved in the whole process of the business from initial enquiry to final invoice.

Although the above provides a brief outline of the basic functions that will be required, the senior management actively encourage all people employed by the company to achieve their full potential, so they will not be constrained if they wish to follow a path not currently trodden by the business if it has commercial benefit and uses held expertise. It is through the inventiveness of the Engineers currently employed by the company that they have taken the company into different markets and expanded their offering to their clients.
