Job description

I have a great opportunity for a Gas Asset Manager to work with one of the UK's leading Gas Infrastructure.

The successful candidate will support the business on all technical, HS&E and engineering matters relating to the business, providing a first point of contact to the management team and the employees.

You will be responsible for implementing and managing the role out and ongoing operation of the new IGT part of the business. The role will involve an in-depth understanding of the IGT process and how it will develop the existing business. Responsibility for identifying and addressing business, systems and recruitment requirements and opportunities to successfully operate the IGT business.


  • Act as Lead, during internal and external periodic / annual IGT and HS&E and audits
  • Liaising with the GIRS team, planning, metering and commercial teams
  • Liaising with the HS&E and Ofgem
  • Working on Network Code and associated connection and exit Agreements
  • Manage all technical matters for new gas connections through the IGT process up to 38 bar
  • Responsible person for development and adherence to HSE Gas Safety Case, including updating and amending as required
  • Provide authoritative advice and leadership for gas network policy and procedures
  • Responsible Competent Person and Authorising Engineer leading compliance
  • Responsible for growing the asset through the IGT process
  • Responsible for providing all as required information relating to assets to gas suppliers and GT's as required - to ensure growth of network and compliance with required procedures and legislation
  • Responsible for asset maintenance programme
  • Responsible for asset emergency service and repair programmes
  • Responsible for representing the company at appropriate IGT, HS&E forums and related asset management seminars and forums
  • Collate and manage/oversee all IGT design inquiries and responses
  • Update all IGT and HS&E related procedures as and when required
  • Manage IGT contractors and suppliers
  • Prepare ad hoc gas connection quotations to/from IGT assets
  • Ensure works to T's & C's and other commercial considerations
  • Prepare/arrange/submit RAMS for installation, emergency and maintenance operations
  • Manage and oversee the plant specification and materials ordering process
  • Manage and maintain up to date pipeline asset records
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of industry developments - attend industry liaisons, seminars, and meetings as appropriate
  • Conduct, manage or arrange audits and surveys, performance tests and investigations
  • Provide suitable management information to the Directors on asset growth and performance.
  • Ensure the team works to industry health and safety standards and to all company policies
  • Manage obligations under the Pressure System Safety Regulations
  • Manage and co-ordinate out-of-hours Emergency Service
  • Technical leadership for incident management
  • Maintain, develop and enhance professional reputation
  • Be flexible, customer focussed and team-centric and undertake engineering and other duties as directed.

Education and skills requirements:

  • Possess or working to (within one year) IEng accreditation with IGEM
  • Member of or working towards (within one year) Member of Institute of Asset Management
  • Previous experience of working in the natural gas / gas metering / construction industry
  • Ability to work within a face-paced team environment and also as stand-alone
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Must be literate, numerate and IT proficient, particularly with MS office package, MS Word, Excel etc.
  • Keen to expand knowledge and experience to other areas within the Company
  • Occasional travel to other locations, customer offices and locations and visits to operational sites
