Role

My client is looking for an Estimator who can work within the rail / civil engineering sector. They are a civils contractor with a rail division offering construction, building, cabling and electrical services to both heavy and light rail networks. Typical project values range from £20k to £2Million typically.


Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, covering various work types, for review and submission.
• Co-ordinate with pre-construction team.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, supply chain, stakeholders and other third parties.
• Organise and prepare supply chain enquiries.
• Prepare financial submission.
• Coordinate with Bid Manager on all aspects relating to estimating
• Preparation and hand over of tender estimating information to project team.
• Investigate cost effective and or alternative solutions.
• Prepare tender summary
• Comply with Company and Group procedures.
• Support the pre-construction team in preparing tenders, liaising with bid teams to deliver innovative solution
• Issue sub-contract enquiries, including scope of works and attendance schedules (where applicable).
• Produce documents for tender settlement and present clear nett costings identifying risk and opportunity.
• Analyse nett tender package returns and complete sub-contractor analysis schedule for adjudication.


Candidate

Rail experience necessary.

Experience estimating civil engineering/Rail projects from first principles

The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset.

You must be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key persons.

Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities

Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure

HND / HNC

Quantity Surveying degree or BSc/BA in Engineering, Commercial Management or Construction – Desirable

Salary

£55,000 - £60,000 + Package
