Job description

We are currently working with a leading UK Retail client who are looking to recruit a Technical Electrical Engineering Manager for their FM/Building Services team, based out of the Manchester offices.

The Electrical and Design Performance Manager will be a stand alone role to make sure the electrical systems are operating as they should right across the 3,500+ estates.

Working as part of the facilities management engineering team it'll be your job to make sure they have effective electrical maintenance regimes in place across all of the retail, corporate and logistic sites. It's a big job. And an even bigger opportunity to shape the future, improve standards and processes on a massive scale across thousands of sites.

What you'll do

  • implement and enforce design standards; making sure they're functional and in line with legislation and the latest industry standards
  • provide advice and support to all business areas and functions in areas of expertise
  • ad hoc travel to different stores and premises to carry out audits/spots checks
  • develop, improve, and maintain our monitoring systems and building management systems
  • carry out technical investigations of recurring issues
  • make recommendations for continuous improvement, making sure all systems, processes, policies and standards are consistent and driving performance
  • support the planning and sign off processes relating to electrical infrastructure upgrades in our new and existing premises - including major new distribution centre developments

This role would suit people who have

  • electrical engineering experience (MIET; MCIBSE) with extensive experience in facilities services management
  • senior authoring person (SAP) status for HV and LV maintenance
  • good knowledge around electrical infrastructures and legislation
  • excellent engagement skills, able to build relationships and influence both internal and external partners to get the best result
  • a degree, although this isn't essential
