Document Controller - Reading - construction project - £180-£200 per day - 18 month contract

The role of the Document Controller is to support the Project Team in maintaining the projects document control work processes and procedures and play an integral part in the daily administration of a project with regard to contract documentation i.e. drawings, written documents and all digital data. As Document Controller you will be expected to act as the sole point of contact for all matters and issues regarding project documentation and the drawings database.

Job duties:-
* To provide an auditable trail of incoming and outgoing documentation on projects assigned to the project group using the company procedures and systems, both manually and/or electronically.
* Establish & maintain an effective filing & archiving system for paper documents, in accordance with the Company Quality Procedures. You will also create & maintain a compatible system for computerised documents & undertake administration tasks as required by the technical staff & other site based technical staff.
* Follow approved document control procedures, and work processes and instructions developed for the whole project. These will include, but not be limited to, the following:
* Architectural Document Control
* Contractor or Client Data Management
* Project Library Management
* Project Standards Management
* Project Standard Document Numbering
* Archiving of Project Documents excluding secretarial duties
* Liaise with the other consultants' document controllers within the project (or equivalent) to ensure secure and timely exchange of information.
* Operate digital scanners, printers/copiers.
* Collate and organise document sets.
* Perform data input into electronic spreadsheets and databases such as drawings issued registers and drawings received registers
* Perform physical distribution of paper documents both on and outside project offices.
* Manage/expedite, in conjunction with project leader, the document review processes.
* Use approved document control tools that are deemed appropriate for the project.
* Tasks would include uploading / downloading, copying and printing of incoming and outgoing project documents and drawings. Archive paper project documentation for storage.
* Report to your Line Manager for on-going supervision, strategic decisions pertaining to your role and training requirements.
* Report to the Project Leaders for daily duties pertaining to specific projects.

Key Skills and achievements:
* Knowledge of document management standards, procedures and instructions
* Document management systems knowledge - intermediate level
* MS Office skills - intermediate level
* Working knowledge of computer programs for records tracking, archival, retention, and storage.
* An understanding and previous experience of scanning and scanning systems.
* Your computer technology experience should include Word, Excel, Outlook. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is desirable. Knowledge of Revit would also be beneficial.
* Previous experience using an Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) such as to maintain documents and records would be beneficial.
* Ability to work in a methodical and logical manner
* Excellent organisational skills
* High level of attention to detail and focus
* Strong communicator especially when managing expectations on output levels and task delivery
* Good interpersonal skills
