Job description

The client is an established and experienced railway infrastructure contractor. We have a successful track record of delivering projects across the whole of the UK; working with Network Rail, London Underground as well as light rail and tram operating companies to enhance the national infrastructure.

We are looking to recruit a Document Controller to join our busy team in our Plumstead office. The primary responsibilities for the role will be the management of documentation received by, and issued by the project team.

  • Document control
  • Ensure that all documents are well checked and submitted on time prior to the documents submission due date.
  • Ensure that documents do not have typographical errors and other types of errors that may lead to the disqualification of a document.
  • assure that all documents are kept in the right place and in the right department file archive
  • Ensure that quality is maintained to avoid operational problems
  • Maintain and accurately update information in the electronic document management system.
  • Assist and guide the project team in the utilising the electronic data management system and document management process.
  • Ensure that all documentation, drawings and specifications are up to date and at the correct revision. Ensure that the document management process is applied through to between project teams or transition to operations.
  • To provide support to the Office Manager in any administration duties.
  • Any other duties to ensure the document control operates efficiently.

Job Requirements

You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of managing fluctuating workloads, working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines and working off your own initiative. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential. To be considered for this role you must have:

- NVQ Level 2 Business Administration

- Previous experience of working within a Document Control or a Quality Control environment in the railway industry would be a distinct advantage.

- Proficient in all Microsoft Packages and be able to work on their own initiative

- Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat would be a distinct advantage

- Knowledge of ProjectWise Document Control System as used by Network Rail on their projects.
