Core responsibilities:

- Participate in business planning for the local group, including identifying the future direction that the team should be pursuing

- Project management, including financial control and optimising utilisation of the team against defined targets for turnover, utilisation, profitability and growth

- Developing new business opportunities and ensure that the team has a sufficient workload to meet targets

- Effectively manage client relationships and increase repeat business

- Identify and execute plans to diversify the client base, win new work and ensure that the practice is at the forefront of consultants in the area

- Ensure the delivery of high quality transport assessments, travel plans, transport modelling and environmental assessments

- Identification, feasibility and design of transport solutions

- Preparation of evidence and representations to influence policy and develop strategy

To succeed in this role you'll need

- Demonstrable experience in leading a successful team in delivering transport planning solutions

- Strong client facing ethos, can-do attitude and the ability to present complex projects and concepts to all manner of fellow professionals and stakeholders

- You'll have a strong network within the North East / Yorkshire to enable effective relationship and business development opportunities

- Experience of mentoring junior staff and managing projects (budget control, fee letters, invoicing etc.)

- Experience in developing and securing new business opportunities

- Experience of working with clients, both in the public and private sector

- A detailed understanding of how to deliver quality transport assessments, travel plans and environmental assessments

- Direct experience of giving evidence at complex Public Inquiries and a sound background knowledge in the planning system, including EIA

- Experience of budget monitoring, change management and fee negotiation

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading and award winning consultancy as their Director of Transport Planning for Yorkshire and the North East.
