Position: Design Manager
Location: East Anglia
Salary: up to 60,000 basic salary plus additional benefits including travel, company car, strong pension, share saver scheme, private healthcare, holiday etc

Due to the development of a strong and strategic Main Contractor / Client relationship, a unique opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join a Tier One Main Contractor.

This project based role will find you supporting their client in the development of a vital project that will ensure the ongoing and successful operation of vital transport links in and around the East Anglian area.

As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating a team of four multidisciplinary Consultancies in the timely and cost-effective delivery of suitable design. Scope of work will be very varied covering all aspects of Civil and Structural Engineering, M&E, Architectural and Building works and Rail.

Working from GRIP stage 2 and as a senior member of the project team, you will assist in the development of budgets and final target cost, programme and construction methodology.

This opportunity would suit a Project Manager or experienced Site Agent who is interested in pursuing a role in Design Management. Equally, our client is happy to consider individuals who are already fulfilling this role. Rail sector experience would be beneficial to your application although this is not essential. We would consider individuals coming from the Build / Construction sector.

Duties will include:
-Deliver the correct design by identifying the opportunities, mitigating design risks
-Ensure that an effective solution can be delivered in line with project requirements
-Contribute and implement an agreed design management strategy
-Work closely with other members of the project team, such as Commercial or Construction
-Maintain good working relationships with all project stakeholders
-Hold and record design meetings
-Participate in professional development and management of others
-Lead Value Engineering exercises to ensure delivery to available budget
-Manage all Design briefing, Design control and Monitoring, Reporting and Continuous Improvement

To be successful in this role, it is anticipated that you will;
-Hold approx. 10 years of post-graduate experience gained working with Tier One Main Contractors
-Ideally hold demonstrable design management experience
-Be able to demonstrate strong project management and successful delivery
-Be able to coordinate and manage multiple teams
-Be educated to degree level in Civil Engineering or equivalent
