My Client has an exciting opportunity for a DESIGN DELIVERY MANAGER to join their Multi Utilities Team. Although this role is currently based in Manchester, they have a little flexibility around location and welcome applications from those in the North West and West Midlands.

The Multi Utilities Team support both internal and external clients. They offer expertise in the management of onsite utilities that have the potential to clash with major projects - the current pipeline of work includes several schemes for HS2, Anglian Water AMP7 and some major diversions for a £250m upgrade to Junction 10 of the M25.

I am looking for a Civil Engineer with the ability and experience to lead their multi-discipline team of Engineers; you will impart your passion for excellence by exhibiting and promoting high levels of collaboration between the team and our portfolio of clients.

You will need to have experience of working with, or for, major Statutory Undertakers and know how to form relationships and work within their standards. The expectation is that this team will grow rapidly to satisfy a growing order book and you will play a major part in this by hiring key personnel that can contribute quickly.


Responsibilities:

Leadership and management of a multi-discipline team of Engineers

Production and management of project engineering budgets and schedules prior to submission to the Project Manager

Ensure the design intent and solution requirements are adhered to during the detailed design and construction phases

Allocation of resource for projects design teams, work with other DDMs to assign resource in alignment to business needs

Develop customer links to understand project requirements, goals and engineering resource needs

Implement change control processes to track and manage the development of the Engineering element of a project to ensure all budgetary, programme and scope changes are correctly managed

Ensure that all engineering outputs provided are in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation, documented Business Processes, Quality Management Systems & best practice e.g. checked and verified: calculations, drawings, specifications, and compliance with Company Standards

Liaison with other technical, operational, maintenance and strategic stakeholders and 3rd party co-ordinators

Support the Head of Engineering by deputising when requested and disseminating information through briefings


Qualities and experience:

ICE C.Eng or equivalent

Experience in the design of water and wastewater pipeline schemes

Experience in civil engineering deep excavations, earthworks, temporary works, structures

Experience working with gas networks

Previous construction site experience

Hydraulic modelling

Diversion and resilience projects

People management and leadership strong communication skills, adaptable to stakeholders

Willing to take the lead proactively

Extensive use of Electronic Document Systems (BC, Projectwise etc.)

Strong understanding of the BIM digital environment (MIDP, TIDP etc.)

Competence in BIM model viewing/reviewing essential
