Position: Deputy Head Of Section
Location: Scotland
Salary: £55,000 per annum plus excellent additional benefits including company car, pension, private medical cover and 24 days holiday and more

A respected and highly regarded Main Contractor is seeking to appoint Deputy Head Of Section to a long term marine project located in Scotland.

As the Deputy Head Of Section, your key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Deputise for the Head of Section
  • Management of Site/Senior engineers
  • QA control - ITRs & ITPs (including designer and client co-ordination)
  • Technical queries - ensure they are dealt with in a timely manor
  • Raising NCRs and ensuring any remedial work is carried out promptly
  • RAMS documents
  • Write and sign off Lifting Plans
  • Check card/tickets necessary for all lifting plan and Inspections
  • 2 / 3 weekly plans / programmes & completing as built information to track progress
  • Material Approvals - liaising with Supply-Chain
  • Material take offs & orders ensuring that tasks have what is required to complete the task at hand
  • Weekly Inspections (environmental and safety)
  • Aid foremen with plant orders
  • Cost control with aid from Site/Senior Engineers
  • Progress reports
  • Receive the Clients brief/remit, formulate the scope of works and develop the design philosophy.
  • Compile the fee for design delivery.
  • Provide best value working design solutions to technical problems.
  • Manage members of the design team to ensure the timely delivery of information, checking the work of other members of staff and providing assistance to their continued learning and development.
  • Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary design environment such that designs consider the impact across all relevant disciplines.
  • Undertake calculations using design software but also by hand as required.
  • Have knowledge of the current Standards expected for the principal building materials used in the industry.
  • Provide sufficient information and support to enable Technicians to produce detailed design drawings suitable for construction
  • Produce written reports and specifications for works
  • Undertake Site visits and site surveys
  • Attend design review meetings and progress meetings and act as the point of contact for the Client
  • Coordinate the appointment of sub consultants/specialists necessary to complete the design process
  • Undertake site visits and site surveys

Due to the technically challenging nature of this role, it is anticipated that you will meet the following criteria:

  • Hold 5+ years' experience as a Senior Engineer
  • Be educated to Degree or Masters Level in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Hold previous experience on large civils projects PREFERENCE: Marine/Port/Dredging works - - Road construction, drainage, concrete and insfrastructure ideal
  • Hold relevant vocational qualifications such as CSCS Card, SMSTS, CPCS appointed person: Lifting operations (red card) etc
  • Have a working knowledge of the CDM 2015 regulations, ensuring that designs are compliant and produce Designers Risk Assessments for projects.
