Exciting new opportunity to join an award-winning design and engineering consultancy on a contract basis in Ulverston. They have a requirement for a Cost Manager to support their Environment Business line in Ulverston.

In this role, you will provide Cost and Commercial Management services to high profile private and public-sector clients. It is intended that the role will offer the opportunity to progress your career as your experience grows.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting managers and senior personal in the delivery of residential/education led developments. You will be required to show high levels of technical capability, sound commercial knowledge and a good understanding of the key drivers or cost and value in achieving excellent services and positive outcomes for all parties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry day to day delivery responsibility and demonstrate the ability to take on tasks with minimal supervision
  • Assist in the coaching and development of subordinate team members in the delivery of service excellence
  • Be able to interpret a brief from a client or senior manager and convert into a delivery plan
  • Demonstrate the ability to take ownership of small / medium sized projects or significant components of larger Cost Management assignments
  • Understand and comply with business risk and project delivery parameters including compliance in respect scopes of service agreed by others
  • Be a strong team player but demonstrate the ability to take a leadership role as part of personal development planning

Candidate Specification:

  • Recognised degree in Quantity Surveying/Project Management or relevant discipline (MRICS is preferred but will consider individuals due to sit their APC)
  • Must be able to demonstrate, having taken a substantial role in delivery of medium to large projects (£10m to £100m+)
  • Commercially aware and financially astute individual who can identify the key issues and set suitable benchmarks
  • Pharmaceutical background with in depth NEC3 and JCT Contract experience is essential
  • Excellent pre and post contract technical cost and commercial management skills
  • An in-depth knowledge of different construction processes
