Job description

Contracts Manager - civil engineering / infrastructure - Lincolnshire base - c£50-£60k+excellent package - excellent opportunity to join a well-established, family-run main contractor with opportunities for progression into Directorship.

Responsibilities:-
Performance:-
* Work closely with Estimating Bid Managers to ensure that tenders are given correct level of Production input
* Resource planning for tender production, advising Regional Business Managers if resources required are not available.
* Assess and advise on requirement for and suitability of specialist input.
* Develop relationships through the tender process with Clients and key Subcontractors.
* Ensure benefits gained from previous experiences of the business are utilised as applicable.
* Assess suitability of desginers, check terms of engagement and ensure that sufficient communication is achieved.
* Ensure that the risk/opportunities associated with the tender are highlighted and accounted for
* Ensure adequacy of the finalised tender submission, including the quality of any accompanying requirements (programme, methodology, resources requirements etc.), together with full ownership of tender from Production.
* Ensuring the successful completion of Contracts
* Ensure safety and environmental standards are maintained as a minimum.
* Achieve the best possible financial result.
* Monitor measure and control time cost and quality, ensuring Clients requirements are met or improved upon, ensuring corrective action is taken where necessary.
* Work closely in conjunction with Managing Quantity Surveyor on all commercial matters.
* Ensure compliance with Company procedures and standards, taking action as necessary.
* Ensuring overall quality of service to customers
* Advise Regional Business managers on areas for improvement.

Development of Infrastructure and Systems:-
* Collate and distribute feedback on performance in terms of Project Debrief, KPI's and areas where specific improvements (through methods, innovations etc.) or problems have occurred.
* Comprehensive monitoring of site performance, ensuring forecasts on time and finance are accurate.
* Promote, encourage and evaluate the use of new/alternative ideas.
* Ensure openness throughout the relevant areas of the business with regard to areas of achievement or those requiring improvement.
* Identify improvements in all aspects of the business

People Development:-
* Development of staff, ensuring training/coaching requirements are identified and carried out and achievement is recognised.
* Ensure all our Staff and Operatives are engaged
* Undertake regular review of staff morale, performance and requirements, ensuring that outcomes are communicated to the individuals as required.
* Ensure formal training process is ongoing, and in addition ensure the provision of requisite coaching and support.
* Advise on all staff performance issues. Development of Internal and External Customer / Supplier Relationships:-

* Promote networking and team working throughout the Business and with our Suppliers.
* Monitor availability and future requirements for staff and labour, ensuring that the requisite reports on resources are fed back into the Centre.
* Feedback to relevant areas of the Business on all aspects of site performance.
* Ensure the effective communication of innovative ideas
* Develop relationships with our suppliers such that they want to work with us rather than our competitors, thus assisting in the receipt of favourable terms and conditions.
* Solicit and ensure the we receive meaningful, two way feedback on performance with Suppliers, utilise their expertise to assist our performance.
* Maintain contact with our Customers, develop the relationship and actively seek future opportunities by involvement in the Marketing Process.
* Ensure we make life easy for our Customers, whilst protecting the Company position.
* Encourage and act upon Customer feedback throughout the Project
* Deal effectively with Customer problems and complaints, ensuring that the satisfactory solving of such matters are communicated.
* Maintain communication and contact with client ensuring action on defects are attended to
* Maintain and develop relationships established after the satisfactory completion of the Contract to ensure that any future opportunities are converted

Typical Experience/Qualifications:
* Degree/HND, Ideally construction/engineering related. Or have come through a trade background.
* Major project civil engineering experinece running schemes as number one on site from inception to completion
