Job description

We are working on behalf of a leading contractor to recruit a Contracts Manager for their Building & Refurb division, to cover the East Anglia area.

Summary of Role:
Reporting to the Account Manager/Director the Contracts Manager is to provide clear leadership and direction to the delivery team ensuring that all works are completed to programme, budget and quality standards expected by the client in a professional and ethical manner adhering to commercial guidelines, established best practice and professional/company standards.
* Ensure all supporting functions sustain operational management to maximise returns in terms of profit H&S and service level.
* Identify, manage and reduce all unnecessary costs and inefficient activities - ensure H&S plus business risks are clearly identified and controlled.
* Promote the development of team members and actively encourage effective relationships.
* Ensure the requirements of the HSE policies are fully understood and implemented.
* Establishment and administration of working processes, planned and reactive maintenance regimes, health and safety management and support to the contract commercial team are all key parts of the role.

Tasks & Responsibilities would include:
Project Delivery
* Undertake the role of Nominated Representative ensuring that the works are undertaken in accordance with all HS&E legislation MSS, MES & MCS, and the site Health Safety and Environmental Plans.
* Take the lead in all matters relating to the delivery of the project to ensure works are constructed safely on time, within budget and to the agreed quality
* Establishes, implements and monitors procedures ensuring that the contract is delivered in accordance with the Business Management System "The Way We Work" for the contract
* Make efficient use of standard IT packages to efficiently manage own and others time.
* Identify contract critical success factors, translates and communicates to the team as contract milestones.
* Determines contract set-up and clearly communicates all roles and responsibilities.
* Establishes and monitors a change control process that takes full account of the contract requirements and communicates across team.
* Establishes the document control system to optimise distribution of information.

Meetings with the Client / Consultants
* Reviews and assists the commercial team in the monthly contract reporting to ensure it accurately reflects progress.
* Reviews monthly costs with the commercial team to ensure that there is no unnecessary waste and to maximise profit.
* In conjunction with the Commercial Lead prepares the internal Monthly Project Performance Report
* Leads in management of the contract risk register and assigning owners to risks and ensuring that these are actively managed out.
* Provide early identification of potential issues and actively aims to safeguard the contract from action of this kind.

* Promotes and actively participates in knowledge share events and "best practice" sharing
* Ensure each member of the team under their responsibility has a regular "One To One"
* Responsibility for management of resources
* Actively encourage and inspire a team approach to achieve the project objectives.

Client Liaison
* Effectively negotiates with the client, stakeholders and subcontractors to move the contract forward.
* Works in a proactive manner to build relationships and is responsive to customer needs
* Gain understanding of client's priorities and cascades a positive approach to meeting these down through the team.
* Follows up on actions from Customer Satisfaction Surveys for contract.

CSCS: Must have CSCS Black Managers card
Qualifications: relevant qualifications desired.
Professional Membership: CIOB / RICS desired
Relevant Experience: Experience in similar role desired
