Job description

Job Purpose/ Objective:

This Management role will be responsible for the Procurement activity to support the Maintenance function ensuring quality, best, statutory compliance, value and contract timescales are met.

A key component of this role includes the development of innovative solutions to reduce costs and risk.

Ensure all H&S standards are met and assist in the management of third party contractors whilst adhering to corporate standards, and operating within budgetary constraints and legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Contracts being established in accordance with agreed governance procedures and best practice procurement techniques with due consideration for Equalities, Risk, Sustainability, Environmental issues and Health & Safety Legislation.
  • Ensure all tender and contract documentation is completed in a timely and correct manner across the procurement.
  • Provide support, assistance and guidance to other departments around the whole end-to-end procurement and tendering process.
  • Run tenders in liner with Agreed governance.
  • Carry out Ad hoc Procurement activity as directed.
  • Develop procurement project plans contract management plans and strategy are aligned with procurement.
  • Maintain external contracts and frameworks available
  • Monitor, evaluate and implement changes in procurement legislation and international standards for all goods and services.
  • Produce financial information relating to procurement projects, including savings data.
  • Prepare reports for senior managers on current and future procurement activity, contract risks and benefits achieved.

The Successful Applicant

  • Proven track record in procurement.
  • MCIPS qualified or have relevant equivalent experience of Procurement.
  • The Category Buyer / Procurement officer must have excellent communication skills

Working away from home when required

It is may be a requirement of this role to work away from home from time to time. The main reason for this is to visit customers and suppliers. Notice is normally given except in the event of an emergency.
