Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a multi billion pounds highways project for a Communications & Stakeholder Manager.

Location: A14- Cambridge

The propose of the role is to maintain the established excellent relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure a high level of pro-active engagement. (Approx. 25-30% of time)
To work with wider project team to source potential stories and images for all forms of
internal and external communication. (Approx. 70-75% of time).

Key Tasks:

  • Work with the construction team to identify and communicate any operations that may have an impact on the local landowners, residents, businesses or wider customers.
  • Coordinate, write, and edit content for multiple channels including digital, media, and print
  • Create timely content for digital channels, using a variety of mediums including animations and video
  • Work closely with Highways England communications teams to produce material to a consistently high standard
  • Ensure Highways England branding and tone of voice is correctly implemented across materials
  • Assist in management of social media channels
  • Help to find new channels to communicate with relevant audience
  • Maintain and build reputation of the project and Highways England


  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative
  • Able to build rapport quickly and to work well with people at all levels.
  • Tenacious 'starter completer' comfortable challenging and driving to achieve results.
  • Creative ability to structure well balanced documents.
  • Good organisational skills to ensure time critical deadlines are met.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a communications role ideally in construction with project based experience.
