Commercial Manager - National coverage - West Midlands based - Permanent

The Purpose of this role is:

To be an internal and external customer facing role that provides commercial and Administration support to the Selling and operations teams. Coordinating with the Group legal team to recommend mitigation on contract terms and conditions negotiations with clients, leading where required. To then provide contractual protection to the Client through risk management, Mitigation. Implementation and debt management to manage the activities of the commercial administration team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To Ensure all the clients commercial and ISO9001 Processes and procedures are followed to precision.
  • To Ensure the Delegation of Authority process is followed in all Bid and Contract awards.
  • Actively participate within the Bid and Sales process to ensure the final negotiated contractual position is acceptable to the Clients Senior Management team.
  • To Liaise with the group legal on proposed Contract reviews.
  • To manage Financial, Contractual, Risk and legal control of contracts and sub-contract /consultant activities from Enquiry to completion of a project
  • Select, develop, retain, motivate, develop and hold accountable high calibre Commercial Administration and QS team.
  • Actively participate on the leadership team, embracing company culture, vision, and strategy.
  • Take responsibility for defining and embedding a Customer Focussed culture within the Commercial Team aligned to the wider AS Vision and Values.
  • To ensure that secured sales are handed over to the appropriate delivery teams in an organised and structured manner
  • Participation in monthly Financial WIP and I & E contract reports.
  • To coordinated with Liaison with the finance team as necessary but to review any upcoming payments expected and any overdue debt. Taking action working with Credit Controllers as necessary to secure payments are made on time.
  • Effective liaison with directors and senior managers identifying and reporting commercial information.

Success factors in 6 months - 3 years:

Success in 6 months will include:
* Clear understanding of the Modular Hire structure and procedures.
* Understanding of Hire contract integration with traditional construction-based contracts

Success in 1 year will include:
* Fully competent with the job, having the ability to take on more tasks and responsibilities within the department
* Excellent understanding of the products and services the clients modular hires department offers

Reporting structure:

In this role you will be reporting to the Commercial Director. Along with working with the Commercial Director you will be working with the finance teams, sales and operations teams, along with the legal team.

Requirements for this role:

Personal characteristics:

  • Must have a current and in date UK driving license
  • Be able to plan your workload and meet targets that have been set
  • To be able to manage multiple tasks / projects at the same time at different locations.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively under pressure and be able to react to changing priorities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Deadline orientated

Work Experience:

  • Experience in Experience of liaising/negotiating with client representatives and staff at a senior level on major capital or Construction projects.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of Construction and Contract Law
  • Experience of contract management of Administration teams and projects quantity surveyors.
  • High level of knowledge with the use of Microsoft Office applications.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in (construction management, quantity surveying, law, commercial management or a similar discipline)
  • Charter Membership of RICS, ICE, CIOB or ICM is preferred
