Long Term Contract Job Opportunity - Civil Design Engineer (Wastewater Networks)

My client is a global engineering consultancy that operates in over 400 locations and employs over 20,000 staff. They have a number of offices in the UK and provide consultancy and design services to most of the major water utility companies. I am currently looking to fill this long letrm contract role based in Leeds which involves a secondment to Yorkshire Water.

The position involves:

  • Working within the wastewater networks team you will be responsible for the optioneering, solution development and detail design of schemes including SuDS.
  • Conduct site surveys, field investigations and feasibility studies for proposed projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of cost estimates for working hours on project design.
  • Contribute to the preparation of construction estimates
  • Undertake the design of wastewater network facilities using appropriate software and applying relevant design standards.
  • Using appropriate software to provide advice, solutions and successful project outcomes for clients.
  • Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
  • Working within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Mentor and support junior team members.
  • Contribute or lead Client meetings as required.

To be considered a suitable candidate for this position you will need the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) or suitably experienced in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject.
  • A member (or working towards membership) of a relevant engineering institution i.e. ICE or CIWEM
  • Experience within the water industry with a focus on the design of wastewater infrastructure
  • Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office and design software packages.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and oral.
  • Good client service focus.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to undertake multiple projects or tasks concurrently.
