Business Support Manager
Based in King Cross
Contract role - Contractor day rate £487.00 / PAYE Rate £390 per day

Working on Government Services Projects focussed on the NHS. Disclosure Scotland Security Clearance will be required

The Business Manager will support the Director of Finance to lead and develop the business through the provision of confidential, professional project and business management support; facilitating effective and efficient internal operations and customer-facing services.
The post holder will be required to deliver a varied portfolio of work, operating flexibly both internally and externally to the business as required. They will support the Director of Finance in the first instance but will also be required to deliver programmes in support of other members of the CSU executive providing a flexible senior management resource to the team to address issues as they arise.
The post holder will need to be able to move comfortable between a number of highly-skilled, unrelated tasks quickly picking up new things and creating or implementing items from scratch, without guidance or supervision. They will be required to swiftly develop a detailed understanding of the business, and to maintain a thorough understanding of the NHS, the political climate and working for a senior leader within a complex working in an NHS financial environment is desirable.
This role will have a responsibly for the professional and efficient operations of the office in dealing with a complex array of internal and external, NHS and commercial stakeholders.
The post holder will act on behalf of the Director of Finance, providing a comprehensive and confidential support function to the Director of Finance and his wide portfolio in achieving his aims and projective.
The Business Support Manager is responsible for driving and leading a team to that is able to deliver at pace with quality outcomes that meets the needs of the business and enabling the smooth running of the day-to-day business of the Directorate.
Lead on the generation of content for all deliverables associated with the Directorate, and generating Directorate owned content to meet business plan deliverables.
Managing the Directorate's Budget and management of financial processes.
Balancing the resources of the administration team with the requirements of the Directorate, staying abreast of changes that affect the volume of work received, contributing to the refinement and improvement of processes.

Additions to the job description:
Communications and representation
Represent the Director of Finance in interactions with internal and external stakeholders, providing senior management resource and accountability.
Act as the interface between the Director of Finance and all other parts of the business, maintaining and developing a business network across the organisation to ensure an effective line of sight for the Director of Finance into the organisation.
On behalf of the Director of Finance, ensure a high standard of corporate communications and public relations is maintained.

Private Office Support:
Provide private briefings and reports to the Director of Finance on complex and sensitive areas over a range of issues across his wide portfolio as required.
Draft high-quality reports, papers, and presentations often involving complex, politically sensitive and highly confidential information for the Director of Finance.
Have excellent research, writing and presentation skills.
Operational Support:
Support the effective functioning of the Director of Finance's key meetings, including the Audit Assurance Group and two SMT's. Responsibilities will include the tracking and assigning of actions
Support multidisciplinary working across the Director of Finance's portfolio of work
Ensure actions required by the Director of Finance are undertaken and delivered to timetable. Bringing to the attention of Directors and other senior staff deadlines that are not being met.
Customer facing services:
Build effective relationships across the organisation and with customers
Liaise with external organisations, including senior stakeholders and leaders, professionally representing the office of the Directors of Finance.
Project Management:
Undertake special projects on behalf of the Director of Finance and/or other executive directors, both internally and externally.
Act on behalf of the Director of Finance or other executive directors in managing specific complex and confidential issues, both internally and externally
Business management support:
Work flexibly with excellent prioritisation skills to ensure the business and portfolio of the Director of Finance is managed effectively to meet key deadlines
Provide business management, advice and support to Director of Finance, including budget management, administrative team management and event planning
