Job Title - Building / Project Surveyor

Position - Contract

Rate - £25 to £30 p/h

Start Date - Immediate

The client is looking to appoint a fully qualified Building Surveyor with both Design and Project Management Experience working with the Capital Development Team.

The Project Surveyor is responsible for the design and project management of Capital and Minor Works' schemes from inception to completion, including preparation of feasibility studies, specification of works, working drawings and contract documentation, to enable schemes to finish on time, within budget, in accordance with current legislation/NHS guidance and to the client brief.

  • Prepare designs for major capital works in accordance with NHS HTM and HBN guidance notes, consult with Local Authorities on Planning and Building Regulations issues.
  • Assist with the formulation, prioritisation and programming of capital, minor works, backlog maintenance and other new works schemes.
  • Prepare accurate pre-tender estimates and budget costs for schemes/works.
  • Employ and supervise when necessary and appropriate, External Consultant Design Teams on capital works programmes.
  • Carry out measured building and site surveys and produce Computer Aided Design drawings.
  • Carry out presentations on new projects
  • Apply to the Local Authority for Planning and Building Control Approvals. Obtain and evaluate new building materials and construction methods.
  • Prepare design/maintenance briefs and report back to the Estates Maintenance Team.
  • Prepare working drawings or models and detailed drawings for Tender purposes in either 2D or 3D. Prepare Scheme Specifications and Contract documentation in accordance with current legislation, NHS guidance and Codes of Practice.
  • Project management of schemes from inception to completion, in accordance with NEC Contract documentation.
  • Organise, co-ordinate and chair Site Progress meetings.
  • Undertake Clerk of Works' duties and general supervision of works on site to ensure compliance with drawings/specifications, compliance with Health & Safety legislation and to ensure a high quality of workmanship and value for money.
  • Undertake duties under the CDM Regulations, as directed, ensuring compliance with duties listed by the Health & Safety Executive in their guidance.
  • Following completion of schemes ensure handover to users and maintenance and provide information necessary to allow updating of Divisional record drawings and As Fitted information, including information required for ongoing maintenance.
