Job description

A leading Main Contractor is currently recruiting for a BIM Coordinator for their Hemel Hempstead office. They are at the forefront of BIM in the UK and this is an exciting time to get involved with one of the country's finest building and civil engineering companies.

The role of a BIM Coordinator is to manage the delivery of BIM solutions on construction projects from bid stage through to project completion, handover and soft landings.
The BIM Coordinator will report to the project BIM Manager, or for projects with no BIM Manager assigned, the Design Manager, and ultimately the Head of BIM.
In addition to having the required technical knowledge and software expertise, they must be experienced in handling a wide range of BIM-related activities, these include presenting, training and problem solving in order to motivate and encourage our staff and consultants to use the benefits of BIM effectively in their roles.
They will primarily be site based but may be required to travel as required. They will also participate in tenders and other activities, such as supporting development of the business BIM strategy deliverables in conjunction with the BIM Centre for Excellence (CfE).
On live projects they will be the primary point of contact for the coordination of federated models, model production and uploading to the Common Data Environments (CDE). The BIM Coordinator will also host clash resolution meetings to go through the clash report findings with the project team.

Responsibilities of the BIM Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
* Support the BIM Manager with the setup of BIM on the project (processes, technology and
data management).
* Primary point of contact for the coordination of federated models, model production and
uploading to the Common Data Environments (CDE).
* Support Head of BIM/CfE with creation and improvement of current processes and
templates for BIM delivery across the business
* As required support the business is developing the BIM Strategic Maturity Deliverables
* Regularly feedback lessons learnt to CfE/Regional BIM Managers/BIM Manager
* Produce and deliver a number of BIM Case Studies annually
* Keeping up-to-date with BIM trends/developments/innovations/Industry guidelines and
communicating these across the business in line with BIM CfE strategy.
* Attendance at requested wider SRM BIM community workshops
* Contribute to forming project pre and post contract BIM Execution Plans, EIRs, MPDTs and
datasets with support/input from the BIM Manager and project team.
* Host clash resolution meetings to go through the clash report findings with the project team
* Provide software/workflow guidance and a troubleshooting point of contact to the
project team.
* Liaise with the Design Manager and Lead Designer for the identification of design

* Robust technical software experience
* Writing and reporting skills

* In-depth working knowledge of Autodesk Revit & Navisworks Manage.
* Solid understanding of producing 3D models/objects and data input.
* Experience auditing models for BEP compliance, understanding of LODs.
* Experience running clash detection on live projects.
* Understanding of Common Data Environments (CDE), status and naming standards.
* Understanding of key BIM document, standards and modelling protocols
* Hands on experience delivering BIM projects.
* Competent in MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
e) JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE (desirable)
* Minimum 2 years' experience implementing BIM.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in construction industry.
* Experience delivering projects using Autodesk Revit, IFC and Navisworks
* Use of Naviworks Manage 4D and quantification tools.
* Good 4D technical proficiency with Asta Powerproject and Navisworks Simulate and/or
* Understanding of COBie data schema, experience delivering and checking data.
* Understanding of 5D costing software such as Cost X.
* Delivering training in 3D, model reviewing and 4D activities.
* An understanding of IFC and database tools.
* Knowledge and experience of developing BIM workflows and documents for project
* Experience using multiple 3D design tools, model viewers and checkers (Bentley, Solibri,
Tekla etc.)
* Use of visualization software such as 3DS Max (or similar).

* BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering or Building Management or an HNC / HND
/ Degree in Construction Management or Architecture.
* 5 GCSEs (A-C Grade) or equivalent to include Maths and English language

* Membership of the ICE, CIOB, CIAT or RIBA.
* BIM Industry individual Accreditation
