Our client, a growing Civil Engineering and Construction Contractor who operate within the Civil Engineering and Infrastructure sectors, has an excellent opportunity available, for an experienced (Civils-bias) Bid Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary Bid Team, who collectively have the responsibility to win an annual programme of work (multi million pounds), which includes bidding on projects in the region of £10 Million to £100+ Million. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Bid process on multiple Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects, overseeing the existing Bid Team and working with the wider Commercial, Planning and Proposals Team, to ensure effective and competitive Bids are created.

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with the end client, to fully understand requirements and ultimately produce the most effective bid strategy.
  • Reading customer documentation, storyboarding responses, or reviewing draft bids.
  • Identifying and assigning tasks to bid team members.
  • Preparing approval papers and bid progress updates.
  • Preparing the bid programme and schedule of deliverables, including setting key meeting dates or tracking bid progress against programme.
  • Holding kick-off and progress meetings with bid team members or managing cost and quality reviews.
  • Managing the compilation of, and submission of final tender responses.
  • Taking ownership of the bid process, from receipt of documents, to upload of final responses and through post-tender periods.
  • Understanding and aligning bid strategy with client drivers, customer needs and key stakeholder requirements.
  • Providing strong focussed leadership, management, direction and support, to bid team.
  • Engaging with the wider supply chain to ensure all work is feasible.

Candidates will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Bid Manager within the Civil Engineering and Infrastructure sector, on projects circa £10 Million to £100+ Million in value.
  • Experience of leading effective Civil Engineering bids, using best practice processes, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be able to manage and lead a bid team, helping your team to develop over the coming years.
  • Strong bid, design and project management skills, with experience of keeping track of multiple, time-phased activities.
  • Strong communication, time management and commercial skills alongside leadership ability.
