My client gives Town Planning advice to a range of commercial and public sector clients:

• developers,
• housebuilders,
• retailers
• public bodies like Homes England.


They advise of a range of developments from:

• strategic housing
• mixed-use schemes such as garden villages and urban extensions,
• high-rise city centre apartment
• student housing,
• offices,
• large warehouses and
• retail parks.

They prepare strategies, applications and Environmental Impact Assessments, negotiate consents, run appeals and appear as expert witness across the UK

The Planning Consultancy team in Birmingham specialise in providing commercial planning advice to a wide-range of private sector clients. They provide advice and support on development proposals throughout the planning process. Their projects range from complex city centre regeneration sites, strategic housing promotion, repurposing town centres, retail development, sports and leisure, logistics and major business parks, major infrastructure and energy schemes, through to detailed listed building reuse. We are proud to be involved in leading some of the Midlands region’s largest and most high-profile schemes, as well as supporting infrastructure DCOs.

The ideal candidate will have experience, a proven ability to deliver to a high standard, strong communication skills, passion to share their knowledge and a desire to learn and contribute to the on-going success of their team.

You will be an experienced planner with a good knowledge and experience of the planning process including planning applications, permitted development, policy frameworks, plan promotion and the appeal process.

You will be well versed in using critical thinking to prepare planning appraisals, the preparation of all planning documentation for developments, the associated negotiations with planning authorities and stakeholders, with ideally some experience of EIA. You will be an experienced project manager, have a can do attitude, demonstrate a commercial approach and enthusiasm to develop networks and win new clients.


A typical week would include:

• Managing the preparation and submission of a variety of planning applications.
• Preparing planning appraisals and strategies.
• Managing multidisciplinary teams working on planning projects.
• Attending site visits and design team and client meetings.
• Project management and budgetary control on projects.
• Collaborating and supporting more junior staff.
• Liaising with internal and external clients and statutory bodies, and public consultation, as necessary.
• Assisting with and participating in winning business and business development.
