Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Highways - Lincolnshire

An exciting career opportunity has become available for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a Tier 1 construction company on a permanent basis.

You will be mainly responsible for assisting on the commercial activities of the project, reporting to the Quantity Surveyor. To be successful on this role you must have commercial awareness, and the drive to go the extra mile in order to develop you career as a Quantity Surveyor in the Construction Industry.

Key responsibilities

Commercial & Contractual

  • Providing detailed record and valuation of work executed with application of principles of cash maximisation
  • Measurement and valuation of subcontractors work for payment and Final Account purposes by agreement of subcontract valuations and completion of regular and timely payment certificates
  • Ensuring adequate records are kept for the purposes of valuing variations and ascertaining loss and/or expense by maintaining records of resource allocation including labour plant and materials and reviewing subcontract correspondence for delay and loss and/or expense claims
  • Preparing sub-contract liabilities
  • Daily general management of Sub-Contractors and Sub-Contract accounts

Financial reporting

  • Internal Valuations/CVRs and subcontract liability reports in accordance with schedule of accounting period end dates and deadlines
  • Commercial Analysis (final margin) forecasts and Cost to Complete forecasts
  • Daily general management of Sub-Contractors and Sub-Contract accounts
  • Preparing monthly client valuations

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree qualified or working towards a relevant qualification
  • A proven track record of experience in a similar role within the construction and civil engineering industry, gained preferably with a main contractor
  • Analytical with the ability to quickly assimilate information
  • Previous experience of Major Projects / Highways is desirable
