Assistant Quantity Surveyor Role -Utilities, Civil Engineering, Groundworks and Construction - Manchester - 07980 006 436

Operating as both a Principal Contractor and Contractor this expanding Utilities and Construction based contractor in Manchester are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. A company with two division utilities and construction. The Construction division providing bespoke civil engineering and groundworks packages to a wide range of national and regional contractors as well as developers. The Utilities division designs and installs the utility infrastructure on new build sites, covering domestic as well as commercial.

Due to an upturn in work this contractor is seeking an assistant Quantity Surveyor with 1-2 years' experience working for either a Contractor or Consultancy. This opportunity is for a driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor that is looking for a career move to a business that can enable them to work autonomously and have a clearly defined career path with a very successful organisation.

The chosen applicant will be

Duties

Measurement

Submitting accurate detailed payment applications

Assisting a Senior Quantity Surveyor

Prepare and tender documents

Assisting on Industrial projects

Report to the Commercial manager

Identifying areas of overspend and waste

Identifying and reviewing areas of commercial risk and opportunity

Chasing payment certificates and outstanding payments

Ensuring records are made and recorded to support any variations and claims

Producing accurate internal reporting

Optimise cash in and the net cash position

Advise on commercial risks and opportunities within the project/s

Negotiate with clients representatives and other consultants

Advise Project Management on contractual implications of intended courses of action

You will have experience of working with various forms of contract such as JCT design and build

You will possess the ability to measure from drawings to produce Contractors Quantities and to refer to available price data and information to prepare estimates for projects of a small value.

Ideally all applicants will have some experience working as a Quantity Surveyor.
