Assistant / Drainage Technician

Lincoln

About the Role

The client are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Technician to join the team within our integrated Lincolnshire County Council Design Consultancy, based in the City of Lincoln.

The role would be based in Lincoln and covers an interesting and varied workload including; the assessment of the risk of surface water flooding across the county, preparation of business cases seeking funding contributions, GIS and hydraulic modelling, surface water management, flood studies & investigations, SUDS, ecological and environment considerations and the development of drainage strategies along with the detailed design and supervision of projects.

Your work will be varied and reactive to the team's priorities. However, within the role you will:

  • undertake investigations, site inspections, data collection and analysis, scheme design and development;
  • propose technical solutions in accordance with approved design procedures;
  • prepare technical documents and drawings for checking and approval;
  • assist in the provision of innovative solutions to engineering problems;
  • comply with health, safety, welfare, environmental and CDM responsibilities, legislation and guidance;
About You

You will have 4 GCSE's at level C or above (or equivalent) and with some experience in one of a range of relevant Technical Services required.

Ideally you will be working towards a relevant technical qualification in Civil Engineering

Ideally, you will have the following skills and areas of experience:

  • Data analysis skills - interpolating and combining various forms of data;
  • Knowledge of risk and probability;
  • GIS skills - including interrogation of geo-sets and creation of shape files;
  • Preparation of data/reports for publication on the web;
  • Preparing clear and concise maps, plans and data tables, using appropriate software;

It is also desirable for you to have the following skills:

  • Understanding of Flood Risk Management.
  • Flood and/or drainage engineering experience.
  • Have experience of working in a quality assured environment;
  • Awareness of the philosophy and practice of Health and Safety in civil engineering design and construction.
