Aberdeen Harbour Expansion Project, Aberdeen

Contract - Long Term

Rates Negotiable

A Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer with circa 5 years post Chartered experience with previous experience within Marine Civil Engineering or Breakwater construction specifically is required for a large international consultancy to act as the Assistant Design Site Representative on a long term contract basis.

Full time site-based role based in Aberdeen representing the Contractor's Designer on the £300M Aberdeen Harbour Expansion D&B Project. The project involves the construction of major new harbour facility in Nigg Bay involving in excess of 2Mm3 of dredging, 2No 600m rubble mound breakwaters faced with accropodes, around 1400m of new solid and open quayside and up to 125,000m2 of paved layout area along with all associated infrastructure.

The Marine Assistant Designer's Site Representative would work as part of the Designer's Site Team led by the Designer's Site Representative with responsibility for monitoring the works to allow the Designer to certify that they have been constructed in accordance with the detailed design.

The Marine ADSR will be required to support the DSR to address design queries from the Contractor arising from the construction of the marine works and carry out minor design amendments on site. More significant design amendments that cannot be addressed on site would be passed back to the design office. The ADSR will liaise with the office based design team and assist the DSR in dealing with TQs, RFIs and NCRs.

The ADSR will be a chartered engineer with at least five years post chartered experience of the design and construction of marine civil engineering works in the coastal environment, preferably in ports and harbours. In particular, the following areas of construction experience are sought: rubble mound breakwater construction, fabrication and placement of Accropode armouring, placement of rock armour and the placement of concrete caissons. The candidate should be experienced in the review of diver survey information and have a working knowledge of the Rock Manual. The candidate should preferably be familiar with construction works being implemented under an NEC form of contract.
