Assistant / Bridge Engineer


£30,000 - £40,000

An Assistant Bridge Engineer or Bridge Engineer are required for a leading and award winning civil engineering consultancy to be based in their Birmingham office. The client have a won a number of awards over the past few years including being one of the top 100 companies to work for as well as the NEC top 100 companies. They are renowned for being a great company to or for and flexibility they allow their staff. A large company structure with a family company environment.

The Opportunity

he individual can expect to take responsibility for the design and coordination of technical tasks.

The role holder will take on the responsibilities of structural design, checking and assessment of bridges, retaining structures and temporary works for highways and railways.

The roles will include (but are not limited to):

  • Structural analysis, design, checking and assessment of bridges, retaining structures and foundations

  • Liaising with the Technical Lead or Project Manager as appropriate to establish a clear definition of the project requirements

  • Managing the work output effectively to meet client brief, budget and programme requirements

  • Coordinating the technical aspects of the projects, including calculations and drawings in accordance with the Practice's QMS, EMS and H&S procedures

About You

The ideal Candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic engineer working towards Chartered status (CEng MICE or MIStructE).

The ideal candidates must have:

  • Demonstrable experience in the design, checking and assessment of bridges, retaining structures and foundations, experience of temporary works design would be desirable.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience of designing / assessment in reinforced and pre-stressed concrete and steel bridges and retaining walls.

  • Experience of structural modelling using MIDAS or LUSAS

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Experience in design to Eurocodes

  • PTS certification and familiar with Network Rail technical approval process

  • Possess strong analytical and design skills with demonstrable problem solving ability. Will have good experience in the design of road and rail related structures.
