Job description

We are currently working with a multi-disciplinary practice with 9 offices covering the South West and South Wales. Traditionally with a rural client base, the client has over the last 25 years continued to expand work in the commercial and residential sectors.

Due to continued success and expansion of our Building Surveying and Design team the client now has a vacancy for an Architectural Technician/Technologist to be based in their Gloucestershire office.

Working within our design team you will report directly to an Associate, and will support team members in providing and delivering drawings for a variety of schemes and building types, as well as being responsible for the delivery of your own projects.

Good communication (both written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. You will be required to have good organisational and management skills, will be able to work independently with minimum supervision, and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages, and be Computer literate with experience of Word, Excel etc. and AutoCAD.

We would like a minimum of 3+ year's construction industry experience, excellent design and detailing skills. Experience with 3D modelling packages such as Revit and SketchUp is preferred. A Full Driving Licence and your own transport is required as the position will involve visiting various sites.

Job Specification:

Undertaking measured surveys
Interrogating a brief and preparation of sketch schemes
Research and preparation of Design and Access statements
Preparation of full design packages for planning
Submitting applications to local authorities
Collating and organising technical information.
Providing input into specifications with nonstandard details
Preparation of detailed working/construction drawings for Building Regulations and Tender packages
Specification writing
To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances
To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
Person Specification:

Educated to at least HNC / HND level
Have excellent CAD skills, be highly accurate and have attention to detail
Have an understanding in the Planning process, as well as a detailed understanding of residential Building Regulations
Sound technological knowledge of building detailing and modern and some traditional construction materials. The ability to create succinct but considered tender packages
Demonstrate an awareness of own impact on the financial performance of his/her projects
Willingness to contribute to the detailed design process, identify and resolving potential queries
Ability to work on multiple projects and manage time efficiently
Ability to lead small projects
Be well presented and professional
Have a full driving licence and use of a car
Contributing to meetings or answering queries in respect of own areas of work or advising others in respect of similar work.
This role requires someone with the skills, knowledge and expertise to take projects from inception to completion.
