Account Manager Role Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Account Manager to maintain and develop a customer portfolio with a focus on new business and account management. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying areas for innovation and investment to drive growth. The role will work closely with BD and Bid Teams in Scotland (National coverage) and candidates will ideally be based in and around Glasgow.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales:

  • Achieve growth across all areas and ensure sales targets are monitored and met.
  • Manage a portfolio of key accounts and specialist projects, building strong and lasting relationships.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers to stay informed on the latest industry products and innovations.
  • Collaborate with senior management to generate leads when appropriate.

Business Development:

  • Support the Sales Manager with PQQs, tenders, and significant projects.
  • Coordinate with Business Unit Management, Sales Manager, and Marketing Team to target the right customers with offers, promotions, clearances, and special offers.
  • Identify relevant mailshots and exhibitions for the business to attend.
  • Gather and share customer feedback regularly to enhance business efficiency and customer service.
  • Monitor competitors and share relevant sales information.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Utilize the CRM system to manage all customer activities, ensuring all data and information are captured and maintaining a pipeline of opportunities.
  • Record all customer visits and calls in the CRM.
  • Network at industry events and exhibitions to benefit the business.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally, involving all necessary departments.

Reports & Administration:

  • Complete a monthly winning works summary contributing to board reports and quarterly business reviews.
  • Share success stories, including major wins, new accounts, high-profile orders, and tender successes, across relevant platforms to raise the business's profile.
  • Fulfill all administrative requirements promptly.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Experience in the construction, distribution, or hire industry.
