Job description

The successful candidate will be required to assist the Project BIM Lead with the ongoing development of the Civil Model and the delivery of project deliverables under the direction of the Lead Engineer, in accordance with any company and/or project specific standards and procedures. As a member of the project team you will be responsible for ensuring that the Project BIM Execution Plan is adhered to and that all related BIM activities are carried out as instructed. Furthermore you will be expected to actively engage with the project team and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure that all models are fit for purpose and accurately coordinated throughout the duration of the project.

General Responsibilities:

* Ensure company and/or project specific standards are adhered too and standard methods and procedures are followed
* Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own and others' work
* Responsible for meeting agreed deadlines
* Represents the team/group/profession/discipline at external meetings and
* May in addition be responsible for one or more of the following:
* Responsible for defined parts of external design projects
* Responsible for developing/organising events, activities, processes, and internal projects of some complexity

Duties & Responsibilities:
* Lead the Civil Engineering CAD and modelling team from a Quality and Assurance perspective.
* Produce review and critique civil engineering drawings produced within the team.
* Monitor model aggregation and hierarchy and when necessary refine work sharing procedures and data requirements
* Track the development of the Civil Model and revise the Model Element Definitions to suit the progress of the project
* Ensure BIM Execution plan and Project Standards are adhered to by project team
* Create, modify and review 3D models using computer aided design (CAD) applications including but not limited to: AutoCAD 2D, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max
* Be able to read and understand Architectural drawings & models and produce Structural Models, drawings and details under the guidance of a Structural Engineer
* Be able to read and understand utilities services drawings & models and integrate services information into the Civil ModelsBe able to model, draw and detail structural elements and create custom families where necessary
* Produce models, layouts, detailed drawings, and schedules and when required produce visualisations from 3D models for use in technical reports, presentations and marketing material
* Graphically translate verbal and visual instructions and carryout revisions accordingly
* Collaborate with other disciplines and perform clash analysis to ensure the ongoing coordination of the Civil Engineering, utilities services and Structural Models throughout the project
* Assist with the preparation of technical documentation accurately representing engineering & design intent
* Validate Structural Models to ensure that all models comply with Company/Project QA/QC requirements
* Prepare models for exchange and coordination with other disciplines, consultants and contractor/fabricators
* Maintain project specific library of families and develop new families as required along with other project specific content and
* Demonstrate capability and experience in delivering projects in a dynamic, design lead environment.

Specific skills required:
* Capable of carrying out a wide array of tasks, responsibilities, and commitments efficiently and simultaneously
* Can effectively communicate clearly and concisely and is able to listen and actively seeks to understand instruction
* Able to identify and solve problems in a creative and timely manner with sound judgment
* Consistently produces work of the highest standard and has advanced design and production skills
* Checks their own work and complies with company/project standards and procedures
* Proficient in the use of Civil 3D, Navisworks and AutoCAD
* Familiar with 3rd party BIM applications including but not limited to 3DS Max, Google Earth and as well as Microsoft Office
* Familiar with the IFC data structure and modelling concept
* Knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Works, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors NRM1 and PAS 1192-2:2013
* Familiar with the principles of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
* BIM integration and data management

Targets for Achievement in Probation Period:
* Review, modify and update all existing standard 2D CAD details and drawing standards
* Produce a Meinhardt Civil 2D CAD Standards Document for training purposes
* Become project competent in Civil 3D software package
* Take the lead on producing a draft Civil 3D Workflow document in conjunction with the rest of the team.
* Take the lead on drawing quality and assurance for the civil engineering team
