Anthony Coen talks about his first impressions of AndersElite

I joined Anderselite in April 2014 and every day here has confirmed it was the right choice for me. I’ve been in the recruitment industry for a while now and I can honestly say that this is the best company I’ve worked for.

My first day definitely felt like the first day of school! I was nervous and excited; it felt like a fresh start where I didn’t know anyone. On arrival on my first day I was full of beans and made a conscious effort not to be late. I arrived at just after 8am only to be told I didn’t have to start until 9:30am – clearly I was keen!

As I was shown to my desk I was introduced to a very sprightly and skilful footballer, Diego Jack Brennan. He greeted me with a “welcome to the team” in a broad London accent, so I felt at home straight away! I was taken around and introduced to everyone and found them to be very down to earth and level headed. By the end of my first week I felt like I’d been here for ages.

I spent my first few days in the Southampton office for staff training and I found everyone there to be very helpful. Chris Chick introduced me to the computer system and proved to have an absolute wealth of knowledge as well as being able to explain everything in a really clear manner. Emily Horton worked with me as well and really expanded my understanding of the company, as well as providing me with a clear list of dos and don’ts that I’ve found very useful to refer to.

The reason I’ve been brought into the company is because of my expertise in recruitment for building services and mechanical and electrical engineering. This is an area that Anderselite is looking to expand in and I’ve been hired to help them achieve this aim.

So far, one aspect of working here that I’ve particularly appreciated is that they don’t micro-manage. They trust you to understand your area and to get on with it. That’s not to say that there isn’t support on offer – I have regular meetings to discuss my progress and plans which I’ve found really helpful. I quickly got placements confirmed and a very strong pipeline of solid jobs which has made the move a lot easier.

I’m proud to say that despite having only been here for ten weeks, I’ve had my best week in recruitment for the past three years! And, what’s more, it’s been recognised – there really is a very supportive atmosphere. When I joined, Simon Trippick, the MD, came to my desk to say hello and introduce himself and the culture of recognising success really does come from the top down.

All in all, I would say it’s the best move I could possibly have made! I’m looking forward to having a successful career with AndersElite and growing with the company.
