A dis-OAR-derly splash for CRASH

Posted by: Wayne Cressey

On Wednesday 3rd June, the Anderselite Manchester office took part in the annual Construction Industry Dragon Boat Race in aid of CRASH charity held on Salford Quays, Manchester.

The sun shone brightly as the 13 teams took to the water to battle it out to be crowned the coveted 2015 champions.

Our aptly named ‘Dis-OAR-der’ crew consisted of Manchester’s finest; including Captain Priya Sirpal, Nichola Goulding, Martelle Greaves (drummer), Darren Strand, Rehan Malik, Danny Jones, Danny Craigie, Mark Warrington, Hannah Green, Danielle Sinclair, James Lacey and last but not least Andrew Dempsey. They started with a team meeting to discuss strategies then took to the water to put their plan into action and propel their way to victory!

Drummer Martelle Greaves reports ‘The first heat went well and we managed a decent time of 1m 14.6s – in the second heat we fared a little better with a time of 1m 14.05s but we nearly capsized, a little scary but most of us stayed nice and dry. Our 3rd and final heat was our best time coming in at a very respectable 67s, but sadly despite this we were knocked out and came 9th in the rankings’.

Sadly, they were no match for the superb finalists; Mace Group, the Invaders and the Wayders and EC Harris Team B - it was a very close battle to the finish line with Mace Invaders just pipping their colleagues, Mace Wayders to the post.

Alas all was not lost, we can claim a rather stylish victory as were proudly crowned ‘Best Dressed’ team for our fancy dress efforts.  However the real winners here are CRASH and all the people it supports as a fantastic amount of money was raised for charity on the day.

We would like to thank all that participated and also thanks to CRASH for their terrific organisation of a fun packed afternoon in Sunny Manchester.
