Job Description
Our client leaders in Civil Engineering requires a Senior QS for its recently awarded project on the A46 Newark to Widmerpool new build roads project. An old Roman road will become a new dual carriageway Through a large part of Nottinghamshire the A46 currently remains single carriageway. Under a ?220 million Highways Agency ECI contract, awarded to Balfour Beatty in March 2004, the 28km section of the A46 between Newark and Widmerpool will be upgraded from a single carriageway to a dual two-lane road.
Requirements Demonstrates knowledge of Civils/roads project experience Assessment of estimates built from first principles and whole contracts Ability to translate measurement from drawings and Specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of rates and prepare procurement documentation Understands the principles of planning and its uses in commercial management Understands the principles of Budget and Cost Management A full and demonstrable working knowledge of cost variables within a civil engineering environment Analysis of drawings, technical reports & bills of quantities Delivery of negotiation with clients and sub contractors Responsibilities Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates the above with 3rd parties Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location, Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately Analyses the commercial progress and report to senior project staff Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation The Individual A Senior QS who has civils/roads project experience of circa ?35m t/o and managed and settled subcontractor accounts with demonstrable knowledge of NEC contracts. This individual will need to have managed a team, assisted with development and reported to director level.
