Job Description
Senior Geophysicist /Exploration Our client, an international operating company, requires a Senior Exploration Geophysicist to join the Aberdeen based UKCS team. Reporting to the Exploration Licence Manager, the Senior Geophysicist will be responsible for undertaking regional and bock specific interpretation of seismic data over existing licences and unlicensed acreage within the UKCS. The Senior Geophysicist will be involved in New Ventures evaluations, requiring data room visits and farm-out evaluations which may involve the use of a variety of seismic mapping software. Accountabilities Interpret regional and block specific seismic data on a workstation using Kingdom Suite, interpretation projects involving other workstation based mapping packages is likely Prospect identification and evaluation, using in house data generated by seismic data and geological mapping Company representation at technical meetings Presentation of block / prospect evaluations to company management and to partners at company operated meetings Play an active role in seismic survey planning and processing / re-processing exercises Cooperate with or lead other team members in the assessment of existing licences and the evaluation of New Venture opportunities Supervise and act as mentor to junior staff Candidate Competencies Familiarity with North Sea regional geology is essential. Detailed knowledge of prospect evaluation methods including the use of Monte Carlo software is important. A good working knowledge of petroleum geology, petrophysics and reservoir engineering would be beneficial as the position involves working within a multidiscipline team. Experience of seismic data acquisition and processing is essential.
