Job Description
Senior Geologist - Exploration Our client, an international operator, requires a Senior Geologist to join their Aberdeen based Exploration Licence Team to evaluate and rank UK exploration prospects and to mature and drill those prospects that add value to the business.Role ResponsibilitiesEvaluate the exploration prospectivity within the company?s UK acreage and provide timely input to corporate portfolio roll-up exercises For the highest ranked exploration / appraisal opportunities, mature to drillable status and coordinate the preparation of Investment Proposals Support drilling operations to ensure key well objectives are metParticipate in partner meetings to help gain support for company proposalsSupport data room evaluations to help optimise the portfolio of opportunities.Mentor less experienced staff to help develop technical skillsSupport recruitment efforts by evaluating the technical skills of candidatesCandidate AttributesEducated to degree level - preferably with an MSc in Petroleum GeosciencePreviously employed within the exploration or subsurface department of an operating companyExperience in identifying and maturing a wide range of opportunities to drillable statusExperience in supporting well operations and data gathering activitiesBroad exposure to petrophysical and geophysical interpretation and characterisation techniquesFamiliarity with engineering and economics disciplinesExperience in coordinating projects and in dealing effectively with partnersGood communicator with collaborative working styleExcellent mentoring skills to help develop less experienced staff
