Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Software Consultant to develop and maintain a combination of small to medium scale Decision Support Systems in support of technology transfer and the development and implementation of environmental policy to government and industry. You will be joining a major provider of environmental consultancy and research throughout the UK, providing science based solutions. Their strength lies in the ability to provide their clients with an unparalleled range of objective, science-based information, advice and implementation services across the environment sector. Your key responsibilities will include working within a team of software developers responsible for the delivery of software services, contributing to the delivery of software development projects throughout the complete lifecycle, on time and to budget, to assist in the design and implementation of user interfaces and to provide technical programming expertise to colleagues. It is essential you will have a degree or equivalent in a mathematical, computational or scientific discipline. Experience of programming in Object Oriented Languages, which include Visual Basic, .Net or ASP.NET as well as a knowledge of software architecture. It would also be desirable that you have experience of database programming using ADO and SQL, experience in the development of ActiveX or Windows and a good general knowledge of environmental issues. Appropriate training will be provided for the successful candidate to develop their software skills and to have the opportunity to progress within the company.
