Job Description
This is a unique opportunity to join one of the largest multi disciplinary Consultancies in the UK at a time of expansion in a difficult market in a key role. My Client is working in partnership with a Local Authority but are also focussed on expanding the Consultancy remit outside of this partnership. The M&E group comprises 4 disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Energy and Sustainability and Vertical Transportation Each of these teams carry out the design and supervision services for their prime client. This work can currently range from M&E project values of ?10,000 to ?7 million and so their work is clearly diverse. However this team is being encouraged to develop their commercial skills to enable them to undertake work in the private sector as well as public sector The successful candidate will enjoy a high profile role leading the Mechanical & Electrical team in the Southampton Office and contributing to the development of the overall business of the company through a combination of excellent people skills, client development and management together with solid technical ability. Capita Symonds has ambitious growth expectations and requires management expertise of the highest calibre to achieve these. This position will require a person who will be responsible for running the entire team including the preparing and reviewing of technical and commercial aspects of every project from bid to completion. They will also have the responsibility for the maintenance of existing client relationships as well as the formation of a new customer base. The successful candidate will have substantial experience within the industry, specifically within design related teams. They will be experienced in working at a managerial level and able to demonstrate financial understanding with a proven track record of working with high profile ?blue chip? clients. The successful applicant will: Have a proven track record in leading high quality design projects Be fully conversant with current good design practice and methods Have a proven track record working with blue chip clients Be a Chartered Engineer An excellent communicator in written, graphical and spoken word Be a team player able to inspire and motivate their team Be an active member of a professional institution Have a personal client that they are able to expand upon Be a good business developer with the strategic skills necessary to expand upon the differing client sectors Have a proven commercial track record with an ability to understand and report upon project commercial status Have an ability to create business plans then the strategy necessary to meet the demands of those plans Be conversant with the relevant design software and be driven in the need to develop their team with highest technological ideals The successful applicant will be responsible for: The development of the mechanical and electrical building services team within Southampton office Be ultimately responsible for all technical aspects and performance of the team The recruitment and development of all staff within the team All commercial aspects of the team and the projects under their control Financial forecasting and reporting Development and implementation of business plans The maintenance and development of existing team clients The introduction of new clients and development of new sectors
