Job Description
MWH are an international, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy who are currently enjoying a highly successful period of growth. Due to this expansion they are looking for a Tunnel Engineer to join their thriving team in Warrington.
The Design Engineer will need experience in the design of tunnels and shafts for the water industry,specifically, previous experience in the structural design of tunnel and shaft linings in soft ground and rock, for tunnels the in the range of 0.75m to 4.0m in diameter.
In addition the successful candidate will have experience in Earth Pressure Balance TBM, Slurry TBM and Micro tunnelling technology for the construction of segmental and pipe jacked tunnels. Experience in the selection of types of lining and construction methods appropriate to ground conditions along with selection of appropriate methods of ground water control for tunnel and shaft construction is also essential.
The successful candidate must have experience in the production of design solution reports, design risk assessments, specifications and tender scope books. It is essential that the successful candidate has experience in safety and environmental management related to tunnel and shaft design and construction.
Aspects of this role will be customer facing therefore candidates should have experience of client and third party liason relating to tunnelling projects, including British Rail, Highways Agency and British Waterways approval procedures.
