Job Description

This wonderfully located Lake district Local Authority are looking for a Senior Planner / Housing Research Officer to join their Strategic team.

The purpose of the role is split into two parts:
1
To implement the integrated spatial and development planning policies of the Council through ensuring the conformity of LDDs and through comments on strategic planning applications and to assist in the development of policy to enable the economic, environmental and social well-being of the people and communities of Cumbria to be met.
2
To co-ordinate the collection, analysis and interpretation of housing data, on a county-wide basis.
To undertake and coordinate housing research throughout Cumbria in partnership with all relevant authorities and organisations.

The principal accountabilities again are split into two skill sets:
1
Prepare the County Council's response to strategic planning applications.
Prepare the County Council's response to consultations from the Local Planning Authorities on Local Development
Framework Documents and liaise with them on their preparation and advise other agencies accordingly.
2
To deliver housing research and information to monitor housing market areas as set out in the Cumbria Sub-Regional Housing Strategy.
To maintain a sub regional housing monitoring system to ensure an up to date evidence base for the Furness and West Cumbria Housing Market.
