Job Description
SENIOR ESTIMATOR REQUIRED - SOCIAL HOUSING CONTRACTOR IN IPSWICH
Our client is a Social Housing Contractor that specialise in planned and reactive maintenance, new build and refurb projects. They are looking to appoint a Senior Estimator to join their team at their offices based in Ipswich to work on design and build projects over the next 5 yrs, with values ranging from £500k to £4.5 million.
Ideal candidates need to have a strong background within the social housing industry, either with new build, refurb or planned and reactive maintenance experience. It would also be of benefit if you were to live within a 20 mile radius of Ipswich as future projects will be based around the area.
Your duties and responsibilities could include the following:
1. Accurately quantify materials, plant and labour requirements for allocated projects. 2. Attend and contribute at tender stage strategy and/or design innovation meetings. 3. Undertake the assessment of tender bids 4. Produce summary sheet and associated documentation and presentation of the package for tender 5. Negotiate lowest prices with suppliers and subcontractors. 6. Advise the Commercial Director of potential areas of savings and value engineering solutions.
Skills, Knowledge and Competencies required: * A proven estimating track record. * The ability to read, interpret and understand specifications and drawings. * Experience of computerised estimating software. * The ability to think ahead, plan and prioritise workload. * The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines. * Good communication skills. * A proactive approach to problem solving. * Ability to meet set deadlines. * Enthusiasm and dedication to the work. *Ability to take a lead role and accept responsibility and accountability
