Job Description
Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Due to an increase in workload, our client is seeking to employ a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to be based in their Doncaster office.
You will be based within the design department and be responsible for the generation and checking of electrical designs for predominately rail applications. The job will entail receiving Network Rail scope of works and producing suitable electrical designs and specifications to comply with the project specific requirements, Network rail standards and British standard. Detailed designs are then passed onto the construction division. The designs are produced using AutoCAD and calculations performed using Hevacomp or Amtech software. You will be mainly office based but will require frequent visit sites to carry out surveys as part of the design process and occasionally act as the contractor's responsible engineer (CRE) to confirm the installation complies with BS 7671 and the intended design. You will also be required to plan and manage the commissioning of the final system, working closely with installation teams and Network Rail.
The majority of designs will involve power distribution (400V) across rail sites requiring a close interface with the civils team to identify cable routes etc. Other areas of design include points heating, lighting schemes, building services and the integration of standby power supplies.
Our client also service other market sectors including water utilities, renewable energy and power generation. These areas of the company are growing so any knowledge and experience within these or allied industries will bring a valuable asset to the company.
It is essential that you hold a C&G 2381 (BS7671 16th Edition), and a HND/BEng in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and have experience of working within the rail industry.
