Job Description
Our client is looking for a Principal Transport Planner to join their busy team in Trowbridge. The role will involve the management of projects and client interface, developing and leading a small team with the divisional Manager and financial management of projects.
The successful candidate will be using mathematical and computerised simulation models to predict the effects of different road or public transport schemes, developing and applying statistical analysis and forecasting techniques and participating in public consultation initiatives.
Alongside this you will be assessing the transport effects and infrastructure requirements including access, car parking, bus stops, cycle parking of new developments and supporting planning applications or to inform local authority development plans. You will assist in Public Inquiry work and produce written reports and other documents.
You will have a first degree or equivalent in one of the subjects listed below and, ideally a postgraduate degree in transport planning or traffic engineering. Corporate Membership of recognized institution is a pre-requisite:

The successful candidate will have in depth experience in a transport planning occupation, in either the public or the private sector would be expected with evidence of developing responsibilities within this career, you will have experience of Project Management, Client liaison and training and mentoring support staff. You will have experience in Transport modeling and analysis-use of the following, Saturn, Trips Cube Voyager, Vissim Paramics, highway or public transport scheme appraisal and the use of TRANSYT, LINSIG, ARCADY and PICADY.
